Intake with Caregiver(s)

The Intake appointment is the most common first step for families.  This meeting can be virtual or in-person, it occurs with the primary caregiver(s), and typically lasts about an hour.  If your child is a teen or young adult, it may be helpful if they join or lead the Intake appointment.  To help us prepare for this appointment, we will ask you to complete forms and share relevant records beforehand. We will review your child’s history and discuss any concerns and questions you may have.  If your child has a medical history, initial education will be provided about any expected patterns of developmental differences. If your child has been previously evaluated by our center, the Intake will focus on updates, ongoing concerns, and areas of progress.

At the conclusion of the Intake, recommendations will be made for next steps.  Typically, your child will require an evaluation. However, an evaluation may not be needed in some cases. Hourly consultation to address your specific concerns may be more helpful.  Relevant parent support and education services will also be offered.  A cost estimate for recommended services at PNC will be provided at the conclusion of the Intake appointment.  This allows you to decide on next steps.

Intake Fee

The fee for the Intake with Caregiver(s) is $375 and is due at the time of the appointment. If your child will undergo an evaluation, this fee is credited towards the cost of Evaluation Services.

Evaluation Services

An Evaluation is an assessment of strengths and weaknesses using interactive and standardized testing measures in the office setting. These tests provide estimates of one's abilities and characteristics compared to others of the same age. Materials vary depending on age, and involve verbal, pointing, and written responses. The tests will be carefully selected to help answer questions presented during the Intake. Standardized questionnaires from a caregiver, teacher, and your child or teen/young adult can be very helpful. The duration of testing will be estimated after the Intake and may include more than one day.

A Feedback Appointment will be scheduled as the last step of the Evaluation. We may request that your child participate in this appointment. If your child is an adult, we will talk with them about their preferences for involving caregivers. This meeting is where the “big picture” is shared. It will include an interpretation of patterns in test results and how they fit with developmental and medical history, whether findings support a diagnosis, explanation of any diagnoses, and information about any areas that are not yet clear and need monitoring. Recommendations for school and home will be made to help you prioritize supports and services for your child. A final copy of a report will be provided, and this can be shared with the school and medical team if needed.

Observation of your child in the classroom

Caregiver check-in after evaluation to trouble-shoot specific concerns

Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions - SPACE

As a parent, your role to protect, nurture, and guide your child means that you have the most potent influence over how your child copes and lives with anxiety.   This is why parent focused treatment for anxiety disorders is so effective.

Only around 50% of children with anxiety disorders will benefit from individual therapy. We know that children with anxiety disorders significantly improve when parent involvement is central to treatment.

If you are ready to learn practical, real-life strategies to support your child’s anxiety in everyday life, contact us about the intervention program called:
